A former professional athlete and scholar, Derek compares Real Estate to the fast-paced culture of international soccer: "to achieve the goal, it requires stamina, teamwork, foresight, aptitude, and timing." Derek's multitalented approach to real estate has made him a top negotiator who is experienced both at Watergate, Pacific Park Plaza, and in the various local Bay Area markets.

As a Broker, Derek translates the competitive edge of professional sports to the arena of successful real estate negotiation. For first-time homebuyers and investor clients alike, his mentoring and coaching experience for world class university soccer teams has come in handy: "an escrow doesn't need to be a long and harrowing experience. A world travler, he is versed in many cultures and languages - among others German, Spanish, and "enough French to get me into trouble," Derek laughs. In his free time, Derek still plays soccer and contributes his time towards education and humanitarian causes - currently he is in training for the Honululu marathon, benefiting the San Francisco AIDS Foundation.
